The very beginning
I started the studio on a whim. One day while walking my dog, I received a phone call from a colleague who had decided to buy a commercial building downtown. This meant she was abandoning her small studio on Fairfax. Since it was happening very quickly she called and asked if I’d be interested in taking over her lease.
I said yes immediately. For several years I had been dreaming of setting up shop in a space separate from my home studio, but I had never taken the steps to make it happen. The year was 1998. Simon and I had just returned from our wedding in Europe and life was beginning to send us transformative new chapters.
With boundless energy, we got started. The little shop had been hidden under decades of bad design decisions. Removing the fluorescent ceiling lights and pink carpet was just the beginning. With each layer uncovered, we revealed a space that was filled with natural light and a tranquil energy. The transformation had begun.
